When the Third Sun Rises

Image
When the Third Sun Rises She has been called goddess.  She has been called witch.  She calls herself healer.  If only she had the power to heal worlds. Excerpt:      This was the first time Orphikin was alert when the green light flowed through his wounds and the feelings they produced in him were magnified tenfold.      When Brigid was done, she rose from his straightened leg and was alarmed to see tears streaming down Orphikin’s face.  “It should not have been painful!” she exclaimed.      “I was not in pain, Brigid.  I was overcome.  I have never felt so… cherished!” he said, feeling the word did not come close to encompassing what he had experienced.      Brigid relaxed.  “Healing comes from a source of love.”  Her expression turned haunted.  “But there were those on my world who called me Sekhmet, goddess not only of healing, but of war.  They ...

Fire and Ice

Fire and Ice Theona is attracted to dominant men.  She likes when a man knows what he wants and takes it.  Will wants Theona and will do what is necessary to have her.  But is it love, or manipulation? Excerpt:      She had nearly forgotten her aggravation with Will Wilson when she found him leaning against her car holding another bouquet of Fire and Ice roses.  She paused long enough to register lingering attraction, then turned around to lock up the store.      Facing him again, she couldn’t seem to summon the anger she once had.  “I should be mad at you,” she began.  “When did you get back in town?”      He looked at her appraisingly.  “Should be... does that mean you’re not?”      Theona walked toward him.  “I was.  Quite a bit actually.  You overstepped, Will.”  She tried to ignore the sculpted muscle visible in the open neck of his button down...

When a Good Man Dies

Image
When a Good Man Dies What would you do if your worst fear came true?  This is a story of raw grief and perseverance in the wake of the unthinkable. Excerpt:      When you are a cop’s wife, you are aware of certain truths:  1) If he’s late, no news is good news.  You are told when bad things happen.  2) If he’s late and the phone rings, most likely all is well if it is his voice you hear.  3) An officer killed in the line of duty is often a new father or close to retirement.  Pay attention and you’ll see the pattern.  4) Most importantly, when an officer comes to your home with someone holding a bible, something is horribly, horribly wrong.      It is with this knowledge that I open my door on a September day with a cranky baby on my hip and Cheerios stuck in my hair. Author’s Note: This was a very personal story for me and when searching for cover art, I couldn't find anything that captured my...

Willow’s Secret (A Sequel to Willow’s Tale)

Willow’s Secret A sequel to Willow’s Tale.  Willow has been keeping a secret since escaping slavery.  She has a chance for a normal life, but will her haunting nightmares kill the dream? Excerpt:      “I’m not ashamed of what happened in the camp, it’s what happened before I got there.”      Emma watched her, waiting.  “Are you going to elaborate?”      Reluctantly, Willow told her of the choice she was given and who she had chosen, but told her nothing of what had taken place in the shadows.      “Jake?” she asked surprised.  “But he wasn’t even in the mating rotation!  I always did wonder why,” she pondered.      “So did I, so I asked Sylvie.  Apparently, before they started hunting for us, they stumbled upon a girl backpacking in the mountains.”      Willow went on to explain how they took the girl and forced her into the mating rotation with the...

Discovering Me

Image
Discovering Me I woke up in the hospital not knowing who I am or how I got here, but I think I know the missing girl on the news!  What happened to me?  To her?  And what price will I pay for discovering me? Excerpt:      “I wish I could remember what happened,” I said, meaning it.      “Don’t you worry about it,” Mr. Williams said kindly over his wife’s shaking shoulder.  “When you are able to, I’m sure you’ll help us find the person that did this to us.”      I looked at these loving parents, full of pain but still able to offer me compassion, and compared them to the woman in my dream who was as cold as the blue diamond around her neck.      Mrs. Williams faced me once more and saw my forlorn expression.  She put her hand on my arm to offer comfort and that’s when I saw it.  A silver bracelet with angel charms.  I had seen that before.      Mrs. Williams notice...
